چکیده

In this paper, we ha e de eloped a multiresolution time( ) ( ) domain MRTD scheme to analyze two-dimensional 2-D scattering objects with comparison to the corresponding finite-difference time( ) domain FDTD method. We ha e applied an anisotropic perfectly ( ) matched layer APML absorber for open boundary truncation in the content of the MRTD scattering analysis. In addition, we ha e constructed an MRTD time-domain incident plane-wa e pulse, and ha e de eloped an MRTD near-to-far-zone transform to e aluate scattered fields. In order to obtain effecti ely incident and scattered fields, we ha e adopted the pure scattered-field formulation in this research. To alidate the de eloped MRTD approach, we ha e analyzed the scattering widths ( ) ( ) SWs for perfect electric conducting PEC and dielectric cylinders. We obser ed good agreement between the results deri ed from the MRTD and FDTD, while the MRTD scheme requires much less computer memory and computational time with the same le el of accuracy. 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Application of Haar-Wavelet Based Multiresolution Time-Domain Schemes to Electromagnetic Scattering Problems

The multiresolution time-domain (MRTD) algorithm is applied to the problem of general two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering. A Haar wavelet expansion is utilized. A parallel between Haar MRTD and the classic Yee finite difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is discussed, and results of simulations on canonical targets are shown for comparison. We focus on the incident-field implementation...

Three-Dimensional Biorthogonal Multi-Resolution Time-Domain Method and its Application to Electromagnetic Scattering Problems

A three-dimensional multi-resolution time-domain (MRTD) analysis is presented based on a biorthogonal-wavelet expansion, with application to electromagnetic-scattering problems. We employ the Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF) biorthogonal wavelet basis, characterized by the maximum number of vanishing moments for a given support. We utilize wavelets and scaling functions of compact support, yield...

Scattering Analysis by the Multiresolution Time-Domain Method Using Compactly Supported Wavelet Systems

We present a formulation of the multiresolution time-domain (MRTD) algorithm using scaling and one-level wavelet basis functions, for orthonormal Daubechies and biorthogonal Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF) wavelet families. We address the issue of the analytic calculation of the MRTD coefficients. This allows us to point out the similarities and the differences between the MRTD schemes based on...

Multiresolution Time-Domain Analysis of Plane-Wave Scattering From General Three-Dimensional Surface and Subsurface Dielectric Targets

The multiresolution time domain (MRTD) is used to analyze wide-band plane-wave scattering from general dielectric targets embedded in a lossy half-space, with free-space scattering as a special case. A Haar wavelet expansion is used for simplicity, this constituting a generalization of the widely used finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. In addition to developing the mathematical formul...
